Skinessence medi spa – LASER SKIN REJUVENATION
What areas of the body can be treated?
Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though many people also treat the chest and hands. You should discuss your needs with our skin specialist.
How many treatments will I need?
Excellent results can often be obtained in just one treatment; however the number of treatments needed will vary with each client and the extent of the condition you present yourself with to our clinic. Our therapists can formulate a plan especially for you based on your specific needs and may choose to combine other aesthetic procedures or medical grade skin creams to maximise outcomes.
It is our experience that the number and frequency of treatments for best outcomes is generally as follows:
Is Laser Skin Resurfacing painful?
The depth of treatment will determine the discomfort and our skin specialists will assist you with pain management, if necessary. Our laser system has a cooling system incorporated to provide client comfort and at its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all.
At deeper settings, a topical anesthetic or numbing cream is typically used. Most patients tolerate this type of treatment well.
As with all our laser treatments, we may suggest a combination of treatments, often done in the same treatment and the post treatment use of medical grade cosmetic creams to aid and assist in achieving the best outcomes of laser resurfacing..
How long will it take to recover?
It is normal after a laser resurfacing treatment to experience reddening of the treated area and you may feel itching or stinging similar to a light sunburn for 12 to 72 hours after the procedure.
For many clients. despite the reddening, they can return to their normal daily activities such as work the following day. In circumstances where the depth of the treatment was significant, clients might want to schedule a recovery period of 3-4 days.
In the 5-7 days following a procedure you may notice some micro crusting on the surface of your skin and you may feel your skin is dry, flaky and beginning to peel. This is normal and expected as your new skin purges itself of waste and old skin from the treatment. The adoption of a good daily skin care routine and the use of quality moisturiser will greatly assist. Our skin specialists can advise you on this.
